What is the difference between the docs MCP and Cloud MCP? The [docs MCP](https://docs.blnkfinance.com/home/llms) is public. Your coding agent uses it to search live docs and follow Blnk skills while it writes code. [Cloud MCP](https://docs.blnkfinance.com/cloud/integrations/mcp) talks to your ledger through Cloud: you can query balances, find information, or ask what's going on with your ledger. Do I need a Cloud account? Only for the Cloud MCP. It needs a Cloud workspace, an instance, and an API key or OAuth client with MCP scopes. The docs MCP however is free and public. Anyone can connect https://docs.blnkfinance.com/mcp. Is Cloud MCP included in my plan? Yes. Cloud MCP is available on every Cloud plan, including Sandbox. There is no separate MCP fee. How do I set up Cloud MCP? Create an API key or OAuth client with mcp:read and mcp:write in Settings → API keys. Open Settings → MCP, copy the endpoint (and the JSON if you use an API key), and paste it into your client. We document Cursor, Claude Desktop, and ChatGPT. VS Code, Windsurf, and Claude Code work the same way if they speak MCP. What do the MCP scopes allow? mcp:read is lookup only: ledgers, balances, transactions, identities, and views. You can use it to ask questions and gain insights into patterns happening in your ledger. Does the agent connect to my Core directly? No. Assistants connect to Cloud. Cloud authenticates their credentials, checks the scope, and forwards allowed calls to the open instance via our proxy. Can I use Cloud MCP with a self-hosted Core? Yes, if that Core is connected to Cloud. MCP traffic still goes through Cloud, not to the Core’s public API. How do I install the docs MCP in Cursor?
