# What is Pix?

Pix

Pix is Brazil’s instant payment system, run by the Central Bank. People pay with a key — CPF, email, phone, or a random key — and the credit posts in seconds, any day. It is a rail. Your ledger still needs a wallet, a clearing pot, and a match from the Pix end-to-end id to the post.

## How does Pix work?

The payer looks up a key, confirms, and their bank sends a credit. The receiver’s bank posts immediately. QR codes and payment initiation can wrap the same credit. Refunds exist as a separate Pix message, not as an ACH-style delayed return.

## Pix vs ACH

Pix is instant and always on. ACH is batched and returnable for days. Do not reuse an ACH hold window for Pix. Commit when the Pix status is confirmed. Void when it fails. Reconcile to the Pix statement, not to a next-day Nacha file.

## How it works with Blnk

Inbound Pix credits `@WorldBRL_PIX` to the wallet. Outbound Pix debits the wallet to `@PayoutBRL_PIX`. Use the end-to-end id as the reference or store it in metadata.
